Hi everyone,

We are facing an issue in IFS Cloud where company-owned objects are not available to select as an Item ID on a Service Contract Line.

Business Requirement

In our Equipment Object Navigator, we have a top-level object under which we maintain all of our company-owned assets.

Our requirement is to select the top-level object as the Item ID on the Service Contract Line. At the time the Service Contract is created, we do not know which specific company-owned asset will be used for the contract. Therefore, selecting the top-level object allows us to assign the appropriate company-owned asset to the Work Task at a later stage.

This functionality was available in IFS Applications 10, where we were able to select the top-level object as the Item ID on the Service Contract Line.

Issue in IFS Cloud

In IFS Cloud, within a Service Contract, the Item ID LOV on the Service Contract Line only displays customer-owned assets associated with the customer specified on the Service Contract.

As a result, we are unable to select the top-level object or any of the company-owned objects as the Item ID.

What We Have Tried

We found information suggesting that company-owned objects can be used as Item IDs.

One suggested workaround is to add the customer to the Parties tab of the Serial Object. We tested this approach at the individual company-owned asset level, and it allowed the object to be selected as an Item ID.

However, we are unable to add the customer at the top-level object. In addition, maintaining the customer as a party on each individual company-owned asset whenever a new Service Contract is created would not be a practical solution for the customer.

We also have an internal customer. We added this customer to the Customers tab of the Service Contract based on another suggested approach. However, this did not make the top-level object available in the Item ID LOV when creating a new Service Contract Line.

Could anyone advise on the following?

  1. Is there any additional configuration or setup required to allow company-owned objects to be selected as the Item ID on a Service Contract Line?
  2. Does adding an internal customer to the Service Contract require any additional setup for company-owned objects to become available in the Item ID LOV?
  3. Has this behavior changed between IFS Applications 10 and IFS Cloud, and if so, what is the recommended approach in Cloud?

Thank you,
