Hi
Hope I understand your requirement correctly that you want to create several documents like Doc1, Doc2, Doc3, each with a unique number, and use the same approval process for all of them.
To achieve the above requirement, the default Approval Template for a Document Class can be configured in the Document Class Management.
Please refer to the screenshot below.
Enable the Override Default option and enter the default Approval Template in the Override Value.

Thank you so much for your prompt response and help.
We categorize our documents based on Class/Format, and the Approval templates will vary according to the purpose and people involved. Therefore. I would be happier to have some flexibility when selecting an approval template.
Whatever your suggestion is useful and will be adopted for stable approval process.
