I have a question. Is it possible to configure the repository of the "File storage" type in such a way that the files of attachments of different classes of documents are stored in different directories and not in one collective "Docman"?

@LsyPawelZ there is already a prioritized backlog item to be looked into in a future IFS cloud release.

Am I to understand that this topic is in the process of being solved?

@LsyPawelZ Not solved yet. Currently we are not in a position to state an exact ifs cloud release which this capability will be available. But this is one of the prioritized items in our product backlog and will be fixed in a future release.

Is there a procedure or tool developed to move document files from the "Shared" repository to the "File Storage"?

@LsyPawelZ there is Cloud File Storage Migration Tool, which you might have to first go through the information carefully to get an idea about the process.

Hi @LsyPawelZ

do you have any more information on when a solution with subfolders might be ready? We are planning an implementation with a customer who has over a million documents in their existing repository and we are concerned about performance issues with all documents in one folder.

Regards,

Petr

Unfortunately, I don't have any other information about creating directories for the " File storage " repository.

Who can we lobby to get IFS to keep the “Shared” repository option beyond 24r2 (its currently “deprecated” and can only be used if FORCE_ENABLE_DEPRECATED_FEATURE is set in Object Properties)?

It currently gives us exactly what we need for document management (given it works almost exactly like it did in Apps10).  We have several IFS-adjacent tools that need read-only access to the repositories and we didn’t need to change them.  It looks like significant API development would be needed to enable these tools to work with FS repository types.

Our company also has 700K+ files in doc management spread over 6 shares and various sub-folders and agree that moving them to a single repository which essentially also a windows share would be problematic.  It also looks like IFS does not have an integration to PDM/EDM systems that support management of large number of files.

If our group knew about this limitation when we were looking to move to cloud we would have delayed implementation or even looked at ERP solutions that were not IFS.  PLEASE consider keeping “Shared” repositories in IFS!

Hi @diwelk ,

Regarding the ability to add subdirectories to a file storage repository, Could you please let us know if there are any updates on the planned release timeline?

Best Regards

@ravin_wj supporting sub directories in file storage repository type is a joint effort between DocMan team and the Framework team. This is one of the items in tope of the DocMan Backlog. But unfortunately we are not in a position to give exact release plan as this needs to be prioritized from the FW side as well. As soon as there is progress we will make the communication.
