I have attached a new document to a project and went to edit it and the system responded that I either need to have a template for my DocClass or check-in a filed. I think I remember that the system used to prompt for the type of file to be created, e.g. Work, Excel. Am I missing something? Perhaps things have changed?
Thank you

Edit New Document, has my brain started to fail?

The dialog that asks the user to select a file type was there in IEE but we decided not to add it to Aurena and IFS Cloud for the simple reason that it wasn't very useful. What we did, after the user selected, say, Excel, was to create an empty .xlsx file. That in turn made Excel complain about the file being corrupt. The answer, we always told customers, was to use document file templates. So, goes our thinking, why implement that old feature when it's not very useful, and why not instead have customers upload file templates?
So, it's on purpose, the way it works now, and we didn't get any complaints from "real" 😛 users…
