Could you please help me locate the configuration that determines which document class is assigned to PDF files uploaded in the Work Order Generator.

Hi @Mithila N Rathnayake

  • In IFS, the document class assignment for uploaded files (including PDFs) is controlled through Document Management settings, not directly in the Work Order Generator itself.
  • When generating work orders, the system can attach documents based on predefined templates or classes. These templates are identified by attributes such as:
    • Document Class
    • Language
    • Format (e.g., PDF)
  • The configuration typically resides in:
    • Document Management → Document Classes
    • Here, you define which class applies to specific file formats like PDF.
  • If the Work Order Generator uses templates, it will look for a matching Document Class + Format combination when attaching documents.

You can review the official documentation here:
Activity: Generate Work Order – IFS Cloud Docs. [docs.ifs.com]

Next Steps

  • Navigate to Document Management → Document Classes in your IFS environment.
  • Check the mapping for PDF format and confirm which class is assigned.
  • If templates are involved, verify the template setup under Document Management.

Hope this is helpful.

Hi @Mithila N Rathnayake  please also check if you have any configuration in the “Document Object Connection Default Values” page as well.

Configuration in there controls what class and few other details are defaulted when a document is connected to a business object. In this case since you are generating a work order, configuration on either work order LU or “*” LU will determine which document class is set to the connected documents.

Below is the relevant IFS Cloud documentation for this
