Our salespersons creates Prospects, but when working in different countries with different geographical limitations on how to create sales regions, we would need to update the Sales Address Information (Customer view; Address) behind the Prospect.

Customer > Address

This is by default only permitted to do for Customer.

Is there a work-around for this without changing customer category?

Use Case: Sending marketing newsletter to Main Representatives Customers/Prospects. Main Rep can be responsible for a wide sales area, with big differences in weather, culture etc. We would need to pinpoint certain parts of the sales area for different newsletter content.

Without the Region field in use under Prospect, we cannot pinpoint Prospects in for example northern Sweden if the same Main Representative works also in southern Sweden and can’t personalize the newsletter in regards to region.

Hello Jens,

I don’t know your business process but I thought you want to use prospects only for marketing purposes etc. For that you can use the information in tab “sales address”, in your case region and disctrict. For delivery terms and ship via you can use a placeholder or better “tbd”.

With prospects you cannot do business and therefore cannot add invoice information or meaningful delivery terms.

When you want to create customer orders etc. you need to change the category from prospect to customer anyhow, and when back-office transform the prospect into a customer they can change the delivery terms and ship via, and fill in all the invoice related information.

Hello,

why don’t you click on the + and add some region? In my cloud version I can add regions for prospects as well.

Hi Stefan and thank you for your comment.

The + button will require other information than just the Region.

Delivery Terms, Ship-Via information are important to get right, and for which the salesperson doesn’t have adequate training in our company. Creating customers with invoicing information and delivery specific information is more of a back-office task and expertise at our company.

But I guess then this might be something we have to live with, or change our back-office processes so that salespeople will also need to learn a bit of the invoicing and delivery process.
