Make a Sales Part never discountable

Another individual asked this question 3 years ago and never got a response, so I’m trying to ask again:

Is there a setting or option to prevent certain sales parts from never getting a discount %?

We are looking to see if we can replace our current CRM process with IFS, but in the current CRM, we do not allow for the discount of Extended Warranty (% charge) or Installation Service (NI Sales Part).  So we would need a solution for both a charge and a Non-Inventory Sales Part.

Hi @Anna_B,
In CRM of IFS, Business Opportunity is the page which we can add non-inventory parts as Business Opportunity Lines (please see below pic). In the BO header, we have Additional Discount field which will be applied to all the BO Lines. If we leave it blank in the BO header, the BO Line too will show as blank. The Discount field in the BO Line is editable and we can leave single BO Line’s Discount as blank (in your case the BO Line which has the NI Part).

Let me know if I understood your requirement correctly. We can further look into your requirement if you can explain the exact requirement, as in which CRM Page is used for applying discount and at which stage a user insert the discount values (is it manually entered or fetching from somewhere else). Further, please share if you have come across any other page or product area in IFS, where your requirement works as intended, so that I can compare the CRM’s functionality with it.

Regards,
Tharanga.

@Tharanga Priyamal,

I appreciate the explaination, but my question is if we can prevent certain sales parts from being discountable at all.

We would like to prevent certain parts from ever allowing a > 0% discount or maybe > 2% discount.  Even though price discount groups and other controls exist, it seems there’s nothing preventing a business representative (or later coordinator or salesperson on the quote) from changing the line or discount header to any discount % they want.

i don't recall such a setting in the standard, well i guess a custom event can be done at the Pricing points like, Price List, agreements or at the Sales Quotation and Customer Order to validate if a discount is entered. can write the event for a sales group depending on the policy
