In 25R1, I am creating a Customer from the New Contact Screen.

The duplicate check rule for single hit and combined hit are set as Active.

The duplicate check action setup Default Action has been set as Prevent Save and set as Active.

I entered the exact same name as a Customer that already exists.

However, the duplicate check does not prevent the record from being saved.

Any ideas as to the reason for this failure on the duplicate check ?

Hi @AntonioInfoConsulting ,

If you don’t select the single hit toggle option in the duplicate rule, all “rules” must be fulfilled. I.e. both customer name and association no must be same or similar (depending on the selected algorithm). Since association no is not available in the New Contact assistant, the duplicate check will not identify the new customer as a duplicate because only name can be entered. Better to select the single hit option to ensure that duplicates are found even if only name or association no is same/similar.

Best regards,

Anna

@Annjse - thanks for this.

The single hit appears to be the way to go.

The Duplicate Check action works on the Customer and Account - CRM screens but unfortunately not on the New Contact Screen. (with single hit enabled and attempt to duplicate the name only - not the ABN).
