Hi colleagues,
We have a customer who is able to produce and ship the demanded part quantity the same date the customer order is created (with ‘today’ as wanted delivery date). They will then, create the customer order (CTO process), handle the shop order process and delivery at customer’s address all in the same day.
Usually they stock WIP and when needed they are pulled to build and ship the same day. Before agreeing the ship date they need to be sure they have enough materials (including WIP) and they want to use the capability check for that purpose.
However Capabiilty check will consider as not feasible anything that is planned earlier than first working day after today’s date so capability check and same day shipping are not compatible.
I got some questions:
¿Is the availability check an alternative for them? I mean, setting the availability check for the whole structure (I guess that will impact performance) since apparently the constraint is not on the manufacturing capacity but in the available material quantities. Could that be an option so they don’t need the capability check?
¿Is there any future enhancement in the roadmap planned to make the capability check compatible with same day shipping?
Are there any other customer facing the same issue that is already applying a solution or a workaround for this issue?
Thank you very much in advance,
Juan
