Hi database gurus,

I work with the data structure in IFS for more than 20 years now.
The last days I came across xxx_MV tables and wonder if there is a documentation of database
objects and the structure of what meaning do the single part of the names have.

TMP = temporary, CFT = custom field table, CFV = custom field view, _TAB at the end of most tables in the ORACLE DB is easy.

LOV = list of values, ok but I’m not shure why the IFS developers sometimes use this suffix in the table name, sometimes not. When you use “base data” every thing could be a “list of values”.

Especially I’m looking for a meaning for the xx_MV tables today.

Thanks in advance and have a nice day.

Hi @Michael Kaiser

MV is normally a Materialized View

You can find some more information about this in oracle documentation (e.g. https://oracle-base.com/articles/misc/materialized-views
In IFS materialzed views are for example used for business reporting (e.g. https://docs.ifs.com/techdocs/23r1/050_reporting/500_information_sources/050_data_mart_access/010_overview/010_materialized_views/)
