Explain unlimited supply date

Hi @Andy Haminarivo

The Unlimited Supply Date is a date you set for a part or material in IFS to show when it will no longer have supply issues. After this date, the system assumes the part will always be available without any problems.

Why is it Useful?

  • Planning Ahead: It helps with planning and scheduling by marking a future time when supply problems won’t affect operations.
  • Handling Delays: Useful when there are long lead times, temporary shortages, or delays that will be resolved by a specific date.

When is it Used?

  • If a part is on backorder, and you know when it will arrive.
  • When future production or procurement plans guarantee uninterrupted supply.
  • During supplier changes, when new agreements ensure a steady supply.

How Does it Help with Planning?

  • In MRP and Production Planning, the system won’t highlight shortages or delays for that part after the Unlimited Supply Date.
  • This lets planners focus on solving short-term supply issues and assume things will run smoothly afterward.

Hope this information is useful.
