Request to Request how to handle charges

I am working for a customer that creates a request for quotation for most purchases.  IFS Cloud does not support capturing charges the same as on a purchase order on the order quotation or the purchase requisition.

Has anyone experienced this and how did you overcome?

Thanks

Richard

Hi,

(I hope this answer is not too late.)

Quotes:
I would like to understand why you want charges to be included in the quotation.

When requesting quotations, you are asking suppliers for the price and terms at which they are hoping to provide a product or service. If there are other costs related to the product or service, suppliers are more likely to include these under ‘additional costs’, as the decision to select the least expensive supplier depends on the total cost of purchase (which is price + additional costs).

(I believe that if IFS allowed suppliers to indicate charges separately in the quotation, it would make it more difficult for the purchasing department to determine the lowest cost supplier, unless all suppliers used the same charging IDs. Supporting this in IFS would likely require a different design than what is currently available.)

Requisition:
Requisitions are typically generated by users outside the purchasing department (such as requisitioners, planning engines like MRP, or internal processes like shop order). This is where the need to procure a part/service is identified.
While the decision regarding which supplier to use is taken here, charges are not usually a deciding factor, and charge is not something that concerns parties that are proposing to buy a part.

(However, I agree that it would be beneficial to have visibility of potential charges that would come with a supplier or a supplier-for-purchase part within the requisition. Perhaps within the ‘Price Comparison’ before the purchasing process is initiated by converting the PR to a PO. Maybe a request to IFS?)

Hope this helps,
Asanka
