They are different.
The coordinator is used for various functions related to order release, order sequencing, RMAs and other things.
Both the default Buyer and the default Coordinator for a user are set on the Sites per User detail view.

How standard system works is, rather than connected buyer with coordinator, a user will be connected with buyer and coordinator and this will be done from “ sites per user” window
