Order proposal - Time period for material on work orders

Hi.
When I use Create Order Proposal… Materials on a work task with required date = today is generating a need (a Purchase Requisition is created).
But when required date > today, no Purchase Requisition is created.

I want to extend the horizon the Create Order Proposal looks to include material need on work tasks within the next 30 days.

 

We are a service company and only need material for work orders.
We have a warehouse where we stock the most parts.
We do not have the IPR module.

IFS Cloud 25R1

How can I extend the order proposal horizon to ensure enough stock to cover work orders for lets say 30 days?

Hi ​@ModinA, do you have a Purchase Lead Time for your part? Order Proposal will only check the supplies within one lead time. If there are enough supplies within one lead time to refill stocks up to the order point, then no new supplies (PRs) will be created. Thanks.

I have now done some testing and can not seem to find the right place for lead time.

I have set todays date on work task so the meterial demand is today.
When calculating order proposal I get a PR.
But the Wanted Receipt date is stated as today.


But I have tried adding lead time in:
Supply Chain Matrix for Supplier - External Transport Lead Time

Supply Chain Matrix for Supplier - Internal Delivery Lead time

Supplier for Purchase Part - Supplier Manufacturing Lead Time

Inventory Part - Purchasing Lead Time

 




Were should I add/edit lead time to have an effect on PR?

(It seems to had some impact that it was friday today and the weekend effected somehow.
Increasing Purchasing Lead Time on Inventory part created a PR need.

So I will have to investigate calender settings).

 


But is there any way to still create a PR need if Required date on work task is beyond Purchase lead time?


If the material need on work task is two weeks ahead, and Purchase lead time is one week.
I still wants to order the material now so it exists on shelve in good time before it should be picked for the work task later on.

Hi ​@ModinA,

 

Order Proposal will only create supply requests (PR / SR) if the current stock level has fallen below the Order Point you have defined for the part.

 

If the current on hand qty is below the Order Point, Order Proposal will look ahead one lead time to see if there are any supplies planned for delivery during that time that takes the projected quantity on hand above the OP.

Note that order proposal will only consider planned supplies when looking ahead for one lead-time of the part (i.e., it will not look at future demands unless they are abnormally high - this is why you should have a safety stock) If there were planned supplies that make the projected quantity on-hand become equal to or greater than the OP, there would not be any new requisitions added for the part.

After entering all the lead times, you have mentioned above, you will need to execute Calculate Purchase Lead Time job to update the calculated purchase lead time in the inventory part. Then Order Proposal will consider this lead time for its calculations.

Thanks for all the answers.
It seems that Create Order Proposal then always will be one step behind (or only same day) in keeping materials in stock if it only looks for demand within one leadtime.

 

It would be desirable to have the parts in stock at least one week before the need from work task is to be collected.
We do know the need for quite some time with work tasks in the future. A fixed safety stock can be useful for uncertainties, but not for cover things we know (as need from work tasks).

 

What is best practice to be able to have parts in stock with a safety margin?
