We are considering implementing multiple part numbers for our rebuilt parts; a part number for NEW, CORE and REBUILT. We hope that this will eliminate some of the issues we have using Condition Codes.
Most of our REBUILT parts are not handled in house. The CORE is sent to a supplier that rebuilds it. The process that we are using is a normal Purchase Order with Supplied Material (CORE). Is this the best process?
Second, what do you recommend the PART TYPE to be for the CORE part? Disassembly component, By-product? It seems it warrants its own PART TYPE.
