We’ve started using a MS Graph connection to retrieve details of devices maintained in Intune so that our assyst CMDB can be updated without manual intervention.  However, the ICCID (SIM ID) value is always returned as a literal value of ‘null’, even though the value is visible when looking at the device details.

Is there a way to configure an datamapper to use a GET command to return additional details, please?

Google/Copilot is my friend, of course, and I found this detail, but not sure how it should/if it can be configured

managedDevice resource type - Microsoft Graph beta | Microsoft Learn

Hi Steven!

I’m not familiar with Intune or retrieving ICCID from Microsoft Graph specifically, but the Microsoft Learn page states that iccid is a non-default property. Its actual value must be retrieved by making a GET request for an individual device, using the device ID and explicitly including iccid in the $select parameter.

I understand this as being somewhat similar to what we do when retrieving user photos from Graph: first retrieve a bulk of the resource IDs, and then make a separate request for the additional information associated with a specific resource.

I’m not sure how you do your initial call to the MS Graph api, but I’m assuming its something like:

GET https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/deviceManagement/managedDevices

To retrieve the populated ICCID value for a specific device, I believe the follow-up request would need to look like this:

GET https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/deviceManagement/managedDevices/{managedDevice-id}?$select=id,deviceName,iccid

Given this it should be fairly straight forward to create a channel in ETM to get the required information.

The initial list of all devices could be retrieved from the channel, and have etm make a seperate REST call to the API for each device. You can do this with the ETM Channel Source set to MS Graph REST Request and Message format set to MS Graph REST.

The URL for such a channel could then be as simple as

GET https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/deviceManagement/managedDevices?$select=id

By using MS Graph REST as the message format you should get one import row for each device, which then can be used in a HTTP Request mapper which construct the follow-up url for each device using something like

+ inbound.id
+ "?$select=id,deviceName,iccid"

This should result in one request being made for each device ID, and any additional properties you want to use in datamapping or add to the CMDB could be added in the $select .

The response from that request should then include the populated iccid property when the value is available from Intune. A subsequent Item assyst Request datamapper could then parse this HTTP response using previous.response and map the ICCID into the appropriate CMDB field.

It is important to note that I do not currently have access to Intune myself, and Graph Explorer does not appear to support this request in its sample tenant. I have therefore not yet been able to inspect the actual response from this endpoint or test the proposed ETM configuration.

Hopefully this might give you a useful starting point. I’d be interested to hear whether this approach works for you, and to hear your findings if you end up solving this :).
