How does the “Technical Lifetime” is defined and used when we define Functional object for Maintenance actions? In what processes it is used and how?

Hi @szawadzki ,

Simply, Technical lifetime is “The expected lifetime for the object in years. Used together with installation date when calculating the remaining useful life.”.

In addition, please find the below explanation as well,

Definition of Technical Lifetime

The technical lifetime is defined based on various factors such as the manufacturer's specifications, operational environment, and historical performance data. It is the duration during which the object is expected to function effectively before requiring significant maintenance or replacement.

Usage in Maintenance Actions

In maintenance actions, the technical lifetime is used to schedule preventive maintenance tasks. By knowing the expected lifetime of a component, maintenance planners can schedule inspections, repairs, or replacements before the component fails. This proactive approach helps in minimizing downtime and avoiding unexpected failures

Processes Involved

The processes involved in using the technical lifetime for maintenance actions include:

  1. Defining the Technical Lifetime: This involves gathering data from manufacturers, historical performance records, and operational conditions to determine the expected lifetime of the component.
  2. Scheduling Maintenance: Based on the defined technical lifetime, maintenance tasks are scheduled to ensure that the component is inspected, repaired, or replaced before it reaches the end of its technical lifetime.
  3. Tracking and Monitoring: The actual performance of the component is tracked and monitored to ensure that it is performing as expected. Any deviations from the expected performance can trigger additional maintenance actions

Hi Supun,

Thanks a lot.

Hi,

I am still curious whether there are any IFS system functions related to this information (“Technical Lifetime”) and how they use this information?

Technical lifetime is used in Asset Health calculations.

Technical lifetime of an asset can be defined on the object type or the equipment object itself. With the help of the installation date it can be used to calculate the age of the asset which is an asset health indicator.

You can read more about asset health calculations here.
