Hi,

I have a case from a customer whereby the PMs scheduled for a weekend are getting missed completely. The customer has monthly PMs and if a PM gets scheduled on a weekend, the system does not prepone or postone it. It skips it completely. Any idea if this is a bug or we have a setting somewhere to handle it

I would highly recommend against that.  It’s not best business practices and in some cases would be a field day for an auditor.  If they don’t want to generate dailies for example on the weekend, then they need to set up a five day calendar to associate with the PM Actions so they push them to Monday.

Hi Jerry,

They have set up a 5 day calendar and the PMs are running a monthly cycle on 22nd of the month.

22nd Feb, 22nd Mar, 22nd April was ok, The system skipped for 22nd May (Sunday). hence, no PM was planned for May. Then 22nd Jun was ok, 22nd Jul ok, 22nd Aug ok 22nd Sep ok but 22nd Oct was completely skipped. Hence, no PM was scheduled on Oct

Is this normal or a bug?

It doesn’t really make sense and seems like a bug.  The skipped ones should have been pushed to Monday unless there’s something weird in the setup which it doesn’t sound like is the case.

Thanks Jerry,

I also feel it is a bug.

Hi @JerryB ,

I think customer is using two different maintenance calendars for Maint Org and PM action calendar ID.

PM action calendar ID should be removed, according to comments receive from RnD for earlier incident.

Would that be the case here?

Thanks & Best Regards,

Nipun

HI Nipun,

We also found this week that when we remove the calendar from PM actions, things became as before. If the PM action does not have a calendar attached then the PM actions falling on the holidays will be adjusted and not skipped. However, if there is a calendar on the PM action, then on the holidays of this calendar the PM actions are skipped.

Thanks for the response

We were using the same calendar for both the Maint Org and the Calendar ID, so IFS seems to have been working as intended per the documentation. When the calendar ID field is populated, the PMs will not be scheduled on the next calendar day.

Enter Criteria for Calendar Generation

Explanation

Use this activity to enter criteria required for calendar-based generation of PM actions that will occur at regular intervals. When you create a PM Plan, you have several alternatives to specify start date, interval, and unit of measure.

The Calendar ID field is optional and can be used to avoid that PM lines are created during certain calendar periods, e.g. according to seasonal patterns. This is for example useful to make sure no PM lines are created during a vacation period if production stand still during that period. This calendar can be used in conjunction with the maintenance organization calendar which makes sure the PM lines are created on working days. But while the calendar of the maintenance organization will move lines outside working time forward to next coming working day , this calendar will make sure such lines are omitted from the maintenance plan."
