Repair Work Order - Cost handling

Environment: Cloud 25R2

Background: A overhaul of a truck is performed and the engine (Inventory part / serial object) is removed for repair. Time and Material is consumed to repair the engine.  The cost of the repair should sit with repaired engine.

How can this be achieved automatically?
Currently when a Work Order is performed, it is possible to “Return to Inventory” and the “Inventory Value” has to be set manually. It does not use the time and material cost incurred on the work order.

Is there any setting that can automate this.

Regards,

Malik

Hi @malik.sally ,

Could you please explain the scenario a bit and which version of IFS being used. Assume you have created a Repair Work Order and performed the repair activities. Have you reported the time spent and material used against the repair Task and want that to be accumulated to the Repair Object?

Best Regards

Hi @ereslk,

Cloud 25R2 Is the version.

Yes, a repair work order was created and the repair activities were performed. Time and Material were used on the Repair task. We want the cost of the repair (time and material) to go against the inventory item that will be returned after the repair is performed (not just the Asset).

Ex: During the maintenance of a truck it was identified the engine needs an overhaul/rebuild. So the Engine is returned to inventory with a condition code of “Repairable” with $0 as the Inventory value.
Thereafter the engine is repaired through a work order. The engine is issued to the work order (repairable item), other materials - oil rings, gaskets, and any other parts required for the repair are issued. Time spent to fix the engine is also reported. The cost of fixing the engine is let’s say $500 (based on the time and material consumed as stated above.). Once the repair is completed, we will be returning the Engine from the “Repair Facility” back to inventory using “Return to Inventory” functionality. At this point, we give the condition of “Rebuilt” for the Engine, and we need to specify the Inventory Value manually (we can enter any amount we want here - as per the current design). Is there a way the system can pick up $500 (Time & Material cost to repair the engine) and receive the Engine in to inventory?

Thanks in Advance & Regards,
Malik

Hi @malik.sally,

Thank you for the detailed scenario. Unfortunately based on the current functionalities, there is no such mechanism to accumulate the cost of maintenance and update the inventory value. Seems this is kind of an enhancement request which you could enter as an idea in communtity.

Thanks & Best Regards
