When you perform a rename of a serial from Manage Serial Structure, it is not possible to define which modification that resulted in the rename. This can cause lack of information. It should not be mandatory to enter modification.

Can you use the Journal Text field to document why the rename is done?

Hei Mathias :)

Yes, potentially, but timeconsuming to search for which modification you are using. We will have over a million different modifications, so to then figure out which one was used will be too difficult.

Can you elaborate a bit? What modifications are we talking about here? And, if you don't want to use the Journal Text field to record them, where would you want to record them and where would you want to search for them?

Perhaps you can add a custom event that triggers when the modifications happen, and add logic in it to record the modification in a place that's more easily search able for you?

PS. You might want to look into the History Log functionality that's part of the framework and which seems to be available in IFS Cloud from 22R1 (and in Apps 10 as well I think). Either use that, as it is, or use its tables to keep your own history.

Can I recommend that you raise an idea via this form indicating that if the rename is based on an indication of Modification compliance that it should be possible to set the applicable Modification ID.
