Hi @Harm de Brouwer 12Guide
- What is the IFS Cloud version?
- What are the steps you have followed to add WO map position?
@Harm de Brouwer 12Guide
according to the documentation object connection transformation only works for document, media, audit and nonconformance reporting services only.

Hi, as Sahan mentioned above, map positions are not supported Object Connection Transformation rules. So please don’t try that.
On the other hand, the default inheritance of the map position or WO Address from work order to work tasks has not been considered in the current design due to the nature of the WO - WT relation. For example, there can be one work order, that consists of multiple work tasks of different objects different locations etc. etc. that requires different map positions.
However, there is another approach if that fits in. When we set the right “Location Address” (that has a map position) on the respective Equipment Object. Here the map position is inherited towards WO and WT by default.
I hope this would help.
Hi all, first of all thank you for these fast replies! Really great way to start the day to see 3 replies on my post of last night .
So I was looking into the Helptext but apparently I was looking in the wrong sections, but as you concluded the Object Transformations doesn't work for Map Position.
At bit more background:
At this customer we are creating Work Orders via the Case Task Handover. And they are receiving all there "Customers Orders” via IFS Cases, including the Map Position information, which are created via a Interface based on customer source applications.
So in IFS9 we have a modification in place which forwards the Map Position from the Case towards the Work Order. For IFS9 that was fine but now in IFS Cloud we have a new concept which is the Work Task. And then I need to make sure that the Map Position send via the Case ends-up on the Work Task. I need to know the standard IFS solution first because I might need to customize it to fully meet the customers expectation.
Open Question
So then my question is now, where can I find a full functional description on how the Position is being set and/or updated on the Work Task?
I suggest you read the Define Location descriptions even if it is not the full functional description.
I doubt we have one as such though.

Hi Mayaru,
I can't open the URL, I assume it is only open for IFS Employees.
That is true. Do you have access to the IFS Product Documentations? In that case, you will have to find the description for ’Define Location’ activity.

Hi Mayaru,

All our documentation is publicly available online:
https://docs.ifs.com/ifsclouddocs/23r2/WorkProcessing/ActivityDefineLocation.htm?StandAlone=true
There is another option as well: custom events. I don't have a recipe for you but it should not be too hard to copy a map position from one place to another. You just need to find a good triggering point. A BPA/Workflow should be able to do it as well.

Thank you for the URL, I will have to do more investigation on the customer requirements and how IFS programmed to set the Map Position on the Work Task. I am pretty sure I will need to apply a configuration or a modification to fit this customer's requirements.
Great, feel free to reach out to us if you have any further inquiries.
