Question

E-signing in IFS Cloud

Forum|alt.badge.img+8

Hello,

Do I understand right, that document file for e-signing in IFS Cloud could be sent for signing only in the context of some IFS business object?

There:

But the file cannot be sent for e-signing straight from Document Revision record.

Or I am not right and it also can be sent from Document Revision Record too?

Thank you beforehand for the answer:)

That's correct. Our thinking is that you would send a document for signing from some related "object" in IFS, be it an employee in HCM or a quotation or purchase requisition, or anything really. Do you have many documents, or can you see many use cases where a document is not connected to an object, and still you want to send it for signing?

As a side note, it's generally a good idea to connect your documents to the object or screen where they belong/are related to. In that way, users don't need to search for the documents they need, since they will be attached "where they are".

Of course, we have many commands in the Document Revision page and sending a document for signing could be added there as well. It was just not our focus at the time.

Thank you for the answer,  Mathias Dahl.

Our clients have such cases, when Document Revision is not connected to the certain IFS business object, but still needs e-signing. For example, User procedures. Especially having possibility to use Document Copilot such procedures are going to be uploaded to Data Lake for Ifs.CoPilot usage.

Seemed a bit strange, that there is no possibility to initiate e-signing straight from the Document Revision record. Especially if a client mostly use Document Revision form for managing documents.

It would be nice to have such possibility in IFS Cloud in future releases:)

Thank you one more time:)

Thanks!

Perhaps they could connect the documents that have no natural place to a document folder? That way, they also get them collected, and not only on document class (assuming they use the same document class, if they don't, then using a folder to collect them gives a greater benefit).

As I hinted at, it would not be a problem adding the signing feature in Document Revision. We simply were limited in time and focused on getting the solution released in the first place.

Perhaps you can add this as an enhancement request in the Ideas section here on IFS Community?

Thanks!
