How can I modify the Serial No field on Tools/Equipment so that I can change it at any time? Now, I get an error message that ones it is already provided, It is not allowed to change it. 

I would try the Rename functionin Part Serial window:

​@geirsigve I can have a Serial No without having a Part No. 

I can fill out this field with anything I want really. But once i do, there is no going back. I need to modify it so that it can be changed at any time. 

 

​@geirsigve I already have three demands from the team to chance serial numbers. Is there a way. None of the cases have parts. And I don’t see any documentation of this. Can you pls help out here? 

​@EDRMIHAYLOVA, better if you create a custom field and use it as per the business requirement.
