MobileEdge - where does the customer mail address come from?

When MobileEdge (we use Allaince 15.2) suggests a mail address to send service report to - where does it find the address? I understand it may come from multiple fields. What is the search order?

    In our environment this email is coming from the email field in the service order back office, email field which is populated by the email of the contact of the service order. If there is no contact it should be defaulted from the customer email or site email
