Hi, we have had a couple of users that have reported that Astea stopped working for them, possibly after recent updates but then that they cannot install Astea again with MS Edge.  As a workaround they finally installed it using Firefox.  Is this a known issue and is there something that needs to be set in MS Edge to be able to use it?  We have plenty of users that are using Edge without problems but I am worried that we might see more of these issues soon.

Hi Chris

Hi Chris,

Internet Explorer is the recommended browser for installing the V14 Alliance Employee Portal.  I’ve noticed that when using Microsoft Edge, it sometimes prompts the user to install an updated version of .NET framework and doesn’t always work correctly.

Thank you,
Andrew

We have also been told only use Internet Explorer for installing version 14.

Hi Chris,

V15 is browser agnostic.  However, earlier versions need to be installed using Internet Explorer.

Regards,

Ugo

We had a similar experience when trying to install the Alliance portal and below worked well for us, with assistance from Phil Seifert we got it working:

Unable to Launch the app after installation

This is a lower spec’d system but meets requirements. I would suggest: Run SFC /scannow and fix any corrupted windows files Check if disk compression is enabled on the drive and turn it off if enabled - note, this can take time and you may want to ensure there is enough space or backup your drive. Uninstall the application, remove the %\appdata%\local\Astea\<environment-user>.xml file Remove any of the %appdata%\local\temp files especially if there is an Astea folder in the Temp folder Reinstall the Employee Portal using IE 11 with the installation landing page as a trusted site.

Thanks everyone, we finally got going after making sure the .net file installed properly.  We usually solve most issues by clearing out the temp folder and the environment files but not in this case.

Using IE14 is a bit of a problem now that Microsoft are no longer supporting it and our IT people insisting on us no longer using it as it is a security risk now.

Thanks for your support, much appreciated.
