How can I edit or change a general property of new created field in the Customizer ?

All propreties are editable except the general property were all fields are greyed out

If I delete the field, it ends up in the Deleted Field list were i only can restore it and i cannot recreate a new field with the same name.

Piet,

I am thinking we need to have a session to first replicate the issue on our environment and then also to create a new field on our environment have the general properties you wish to have on the old field.

Once we have this, we may be able to modify the UIM file properties to achieve what you want or we can look to remove the complete field so it doesn’t exist in the UIM and then recreate what you need.

The Customizer application will not allow you to change the general custom field information directly.

Hi Piet,

As we discussed in our session, I will try to remove the field from the Customizer customizations so you can add it again.  Thank you for sending my your Public folder and will come back with an updated set of files.

Again, this is not possible from Customizer itself as it remembers deleted fields.

Hi Piet,

After going through this manually, yes we were able to remove the field.  However, as we discussed today, we could still do it through customizer.  I think the step you missed from below is publishing change after deleting the field before trying to add it again.

Here is what we did online while you were viewing:

  • Delete all customizations for Customer Support (Public and DEV by the way)
  • Imported your Customer Support export where all the customizations were present
  • Logged in and confirmed the Parent Company was still present in Customer Support module (yes)
  • Opened Customizer and deleted the Parent Company field
  • Save Customizations
  • Publish Customizations (All)
  • Log out and in again – confirm field is gone
  • Opened Customizer
  • Add New Field with name Parent Company and the respective computed lookups.(note, no error about the field already exists)
  • Save Customizations
  • Publish Customizations (All)
  • Log out and in again – confirm field is present

This needs to be tested against a site where there is a parent company.
