My recommendation is to do this through QR codes…we updated the native app a while back so that you can press/hold on the Enter Server URL screen and launch the built-in barcode scanner…so when technicians first get their mobile device they also get a QR code with the production mobile URL so it can be scanned easily in case the tech ever has to reset the device (this will prevent any issues with the technicians manually entering it incorrectly). Some people have affixed the sticker to the back of the employee badge (that way it is easily accessible and scannable) or you could attach it to the protective case on the phone as long as that’s easily detachable so you can put it in view of the camera. Thanks, Reid
I am not aware of a way Alliance has support for automated deployments of Mobile Edge and in your case configure it for the URL it should be using. Do consider that for a single mobile environment due to mobile customizer there may be at at least two or more URL’s that can be used by the mobile client; the standard mobile edge URL and the customizer profile/customization URL version which even for a single profile, you may have multiple customization for different sets of users, etc.
If this was to be done, it would have to be by a third-party tool just as you are using Intune to manage Edge deployments at the moment. Perhaps Reid might have heard methods outside of Alliance doing the configuration after deployment but I have not.
This is not like Alliance Publisher which is initially bound to the specific URL specified when installing Publisher to the server.
HI Phil thanks for your feedback, does any one have already used a specific tool to deploy mobile edge app and set up automatically the URL ? just to know if this is doable ?
