Hi,

Some customers would like to use Alliance only with one way : Web back office or Smart client.

Today, the web dispatch console doesn’t have all functionalities like on the previous version (suggest SA, colors on background, etc..) or the last enhancements (15.4 SP1) released on the smart client dispatch console (colors by customers).

On the 15.4, the smart client with all modules is only available for customizers. For security purpose it’s not recommended to give this access to all users.

How could we give an access (by security settings or specific profile, or other.) to the smart client without set on the flag customizer ?

Thanks and Regards

Hi Anthony,

This is really not recommended to use the Smart Browser for modules other than Dispatch Console, etc. after they have been migrated to the Web Employee Portal.

The reason for this is that fixes that involve the user interface will likely not be made to the Smart Browser (Alliance Browser) with the exception of the support modules still available.  Those fixes are only focused on the Web Employee Portal.

The reason a Customizer still has access to ALL modules is so the the Customizer tool which has not yet been migrated to the Web Employee Portal can be used to make UI changes.

Hi Phil, but if the customer needs to use the Astea Browser dispatch console due to advanced capabilities not yet available into the web employee portal,  the dispatcher from the Astea Browser dispatch console can  access to the service order details , then from  the service order the dispatcher can access site information or installed item information. This is doable from the dispatch console in 15.4 smart client : the user from the dispatch console open then  the service order  module, the customer center module, the installed item module on the Astea browser. Does this process is still supported by astea on 15.4 smart client ?

thanks for your feedback

Hi,

The links from the Smart Console are working...
Modules can be accessed in smart mode by clicking on a link and then saving it as a favorite.

Example, in Smart mode, if we click on the order service link and then on the link to open the customer form (Customer Center), the customer file will open. From there, you can open the customer search module and save this page in these favorite links.
It is thus possible in Smart mode, to have access to all the modules related to the interventions (Warehouse, Products, Customer center, Contracts, ...) provided that the security profile of the user has access to the different modules.

@Phil
Hello Phil, when you say "Fixes", does that include bug fixes or just interface improvements?

Which means that if a bug is present in a form, for example service order, it will only be fixed in the Web version?

The operator using the Smart version, if he opens a service order, will therefore have a file with a bug in Smart mode and he will not have it if he opens the same form in Web mode?

What Michael suggests would work to bring you into the module via shortcut links and yes you are correct you can open some of the modules from the DC.

You still will not be able to get to, for example, warehouse modules or other non-service modules.

For the most part though we strongly urge users to use the Web Employee Portal as much as possible. Perhaps, at the moment, the existing functionalities will still work in service order and the majority of fixes are on the server side you likely will not have issues with those.  What I was trying to convey is if they make UI changes, those may not be implemented in the Smart Browser.

I have already seen some behaviour differences between the two client types in some modules but not yet in the service order module.

Hi @Phil Seifert

A transitional solution could be the use of the Smart client while waiting for the delivery of a dispatch console equivalent to the smart. Do you think this is a possible path we could imagine for our current customers who want to migrate to the latest 15.4?

A dispatcher or assistant office often has an expanded role, He manage employees. He often needs to check the stock situation in the warehouse modules, installed items, customer, sub contractor.

A dispatcher  or assistant office is one of the most important role for the activities and in terms of number of employees.

Thanks and regards

anthony

This is what some of our customers do, they set up their dispatchers (for example) with the links to the various modules but again, if there are specific UI fixes, they likely will not be implemented in the smart browser (Alliance Browser).  For example, I know one where sales orders cannot be searched in the smart browser by customer.  It works in web Employee Portal but will not be fixed in the smart browser.

If you are asking me if you can use the smart browser for all modules without setting up as customizer, then the answer is only by using links as Michael suggested above.  You will not be able to find the modules directly in the module search.
