I don’t have a system to test atm, however barcode scanning works the same way as manually typing the search string. So when your list shows an ID and a Description, you can type and the list will be filtered based on matches in both fields. The same applies when you scan a barcode, the list will show records for which a field matches the encoded text/number. Also partial matches. But this is not tools-specific, it works almost everywhere in MWO.
+23Whenever you have a search field to pick an item from a list, you can select the Barcode button, the camera will be activated and the detected barcode will be pasted as alphanumeric input into the search field. There are some areas like “Scan and Issue” on the task’s material page, which activate the scanner right away, but I haven’t seen such a command under Tools.
