Speed up retrieving and exporting data in Oracle

I would you ask you a question. How can I speed up data retrieval and exporting Oracle columns in excel? I find that indexes is good option, exist another options? Or when I will use indexes (for example) composite, how can I implement it? How can I find out in which table belongs certain view in IFS?
