Multiple IFS Print agents attached to one IFS system and how many printers on a print agent?

Hi, we currently have nearly 40 printers set up on our IFS Print Agent running on  a Windows server. We are going to add another 40 or so as we roll out IFS to more of the business.
Firstly, is there a recommended upper limit from IFS on the max number of printers to configure in one IFS Print Agent - would it be OK to add another 40 printers, bringing the total to about 80 to this server? 
The windows server is running Windows 2019 standard edition,  dual processor, has 8gb of memory and 50gb disk space and seems to be coping OK with the current load. (70% memory used).

Alternatively, we are thinking of setting up a seperate 2nd ifs print agent server for this additional set of printers - can multiple IFS print agent servers connect to one IFS system, or are there any issues with this?

Hi @BEYJJOYCE,

To my knowledge, there is no upper limit to how many printers you can set up in one Print Agent, but I would imagine too many in one Print Agent could take it’s toll. Therefore, it would be ideal if you could logically group your printers in some way and have it’s own Print Agent for each of those groups. 

For instance, you can group them based on the location, department, function etc. Entirely up to you. Just make sure not to map the same printer in multiple Print Agents! A certain printer should exist in only one Print Agent. 

You can setup multiple Print Agents on the same server or on different servers as necessary. In fact, if you have sites in different locations around the world for instance, and each of those sites have their own set of physical printers, it is advised to install different Print Agents for each site on servers closest to those sites to minimize any network issues. That doesn’t imply you MUST have different Print Agents like that though, but it is just preferred.
