What is the purpose of the Make Maintenance Aware button on the Serial Object screen?  Isn’t the Serial Object already Maintenance Aware when it is created?

Cloud

IE

When selected, all I get is a blank Serial Maintenance Aware screen.

Just curious,

Gregg

Hi @CorGreggB

This command button is used to navigate to the Serial Maintenace Aware page. When you navigate to this page, you can see the serial parts list and you can create a serial object by doing the make maintenance aware.

@CorGreggB In IFS Make Maintenance Aware is used in the process (through Customer Orders) when we ship a serial part from the inventory to the customer. It enables carrying out maintenance work as it is created as a Serial Object. Once it is Maintenance Aware, it is possible to carry out maintenance on the object even though it is not In Facility (object is with the customer). Hope this helps !

Thanks for the responses.  I am aware of the Customer Order process to create the Serial Objects when the order is delivered.  I just wanted to know if there was something I was missing in functionality of the Serial Maintenance Aware button than just a shortcut to a blank screen.  We will probably hide the button since it offers no functionality.

Hi @CorGreggB ,

As you correctly pointed out, if there is a existing serial object for a part, then that serial part is already maintenance aware( Can be used in PM actions, work orders). One use I could think of is command might be there so the users could easily navigate to the “Serial Maintenance Aware” page to make another/different serial maintenance aware,

At least from my understanding there is no specific functionality for the serial part that you were originally on so hiding it for the users could be an option to simplify the window.
