Hi @ConStephM

According to Day Type: Time when work starts and ends is fixed and no flexibility is allowed.

Move Day Type to the First Clock In: If selected, employees can begin their work whenever they want. Their first in-stamp for the accounting date is used as the beginning of the workday. The end of the workday is calculated by adding their scheduled hours and work breaks. Any time clocked afterwards is logged as overtime.
E.g., in-stamp = 08:12, scheduled normal hours = 8, scheduled breaks = 1. In this scenario, any time clocked after 17:12 is considered overtime. For this category of employees, the calculation uses schedule information and changes time intervals before the calculation takes place. Afterwards, the calculation follows the standard procedure.

Note: In this case, no overtime is possible before schedule starts.

Limit Day Type Move to the Minimum in Time: If selected, employees can begin their workday within a predefined time limit, e.g., from 7 to 9. If clocked in within that timeframe, the calculation will be the same as for the Day Type to the First Clock In option. However, if an employee clocks in earlier, any time outside of the limit will be ignored.

E.g., if the limit for clocking in is from 7 to 9 and an employee clocks in at 6, the system will calculate their flex time as if they started work at 7.

I already do the helping field, many thanks. But during the courses, when we attributes some flex rule to the day type, we choose the rules “According to the Day type”. So my question is : why choosing this wheres we want flexibility during the courses.

I don’t understand : do I have to chose on of the two others when I want to apply flexibility rules? if so, why it had not been told us ?

many thanks

Hi,

Note that a flex day rule connected to the day type can ONLY be used when you select “According to day type”

“Flexible work time” and “Flex day rule” are two completely different things.

If you use flex day rule this also has to be combined with a flexi time balance on the work hour rule to be of any use.

I’ll try to give a short explanation and some recommendations.

According to day type:

When you have a day type dependant schedule and the day types contain rules for the overtime and you want overtime to be calculated exactly as the times in the day type. If the day type looks as below you should get overtime on wage code 372 from midnight to 6 AM and then overtime on wage code 371 from 6 Am until schedule starts at 7 AM. Exactly from 7 you get normal time. IF you leave early in the afternoon you can still get your overtime in the morning (depending on the setting on your absence code)

This can be combined with a flex day rule allowing the employee to clock in Normal outside of scheduled time to accrue to a flexi time balance.

Move day type to first clock in:

Let’s say the employee with the day type above clocks in at 6 AM - the day type will then move so that wage code 372 is valid until 4 AM and wage code 372 is valid between 4 AM and 6 AM.

Note that you can NOT combine this with a day flex rule (flexi time balance)

Limit day type move to a minimum in time:

Haven’t used it so I can’t give a good example but I think the help text explains it quite well. I can see however that the help text is not updated when the options’ names were updated.

Regards,

Maria
