Hello everyone,

I’ve noticed that the Planned Cost field in the Margin section is editable but does not seem to be directly linked to the cost elements added in the Monitoring section.

  • Is this the expected system behavior?
  • Is there a way to configure or automate synchronization so that changes made in Monitoring are reflected in Margin?

Looking forward to your insights and suggestions!

Best regards,

Hi @Oumaima,

The Planned Cost and the Planned Revenue value you enter in the Margin tab are only for information purposes. Based on these values the Planned Profit and Margin are calculated.

The main usage of this is to define a ballpark total revenue and a cost for the project, at the very beginning of the project. This has no link with the Planned Costs that are derived from the project connected objects, resources, hours, etc.

However, when you progress through the project the Actuals will start to accumulate and you will be able to make comparisons against your initial Revenue/Cost estimates. This will help in realising whether the project is on the track of achieving the margins/profits you have initial planned for.
