When running the "Part Usage By Person" and not setting any parameters in the selection screen using the export to excel. it runs for a bit and creates an excel file with this in the cell

'<'perform_get_report_pdf_result'>'message_logged'<'/perform_get_report_pdf_result'>'

Why would you get this error when you are exporting to excel and not to a .pdf?

Dear Ann,

An excel with the message “<'perform_get_report_pdf_result'>'message_logged'<'/perform_get_report_pdf_result'>” could be seen if the application fails to generate the report successfully.

The file type of the excel generates form FSM is “.xls” and this format is limited to output only 65536 rows.

In your situation also, I suspect that when the report "Part Usage By Person" is ordered without setting any parameters, the output has more than 65536 records. That is the reason why the report is not generating as expected.

This issue had already been addressed by FSM product Development Team and the fix is released in FSM 6 UPD 14.

Further, note that the file format “.xlsx” is compatible to perform this operation without any problem so, could be used as a temporary workaround.

As this is a baseline report and can not be viewed via the Reports Admin, there is some extra work to apply this.

Yet again, this workaround will only be working in the Smart Client and will not work in the Web Client as these is another bug (Corrected issue where output file format does not change according to the file type set in the ‘Reports Admin’ screen). This is also already address in FSM 6 UPD 14.

Thanks and Regards
