Document Won't Open In Aurena (XML Style information)

We have a user that when they try to open this file in Aurena, it won’t open. This is the error they are receiving. They can open other documents but not this one and I can open this document so it’s not document format related. They can also open it in IEE, just not in Aurena. This is the only document they’ve come across that won’t open and always gives this error in Aurena. Any troubleshooting steps will help. When extracting the specific errors it’s throwing, there is an error that says “This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.” The more puzzling issue is that this is an Adobe file.

Hi,

Just to verify: if you login to Aurena with your own user, it works?

If yes, the only thing I can think of is the access rights in Docman.

You could ask them to test without the Aurena Agent to see if they can get sn error message that gives more clues.

Also have them try the download/view option under the File Refs. tab, for the samer eason.

@Mathias Dahl yes when I log in under my own user it works and similarly, if they’re logged into IEE it works but in Aurena, when she clicks the view document button, she always gets this error and the document doesn’t open.

As for opening it from the File Ref as you’ve mentioned, that actually works but she still can’t click the “view” button on the page.

Does that hint to anything?

This is definitely "data related", there's something special with that document that we don't see yet.

On her machine, disable IFS Aurena Chrome extension, reload the web browser tab/window and try again, using her IFS account. That will view the document without the Aurena Agent, and it should be the same as using the command under File Refs. It probably works too.

It would also be interesting to see if there is something special with that file, in Aurena. I don't think there is, since it works with your user, but it would still be good to see how the same file behaves when it's checked in against a new document in Docman. Can you try that?

If that works and if we cannot figure out what's causing the problem, you could remove the old document, then recreate it with the same document number and use that instead.

When you logged in with your user, was that on your machine or her?

@Mathias Dahl, I’ve finally got around to testing all of the above scenarios.
I created a new document, brand new number and all, with the same file, and we get the error (I’m actually getting it now as opposed to this being an isolated user). I can view open the document from the file ref tab like normal but when I hit view on the screen, nothing was happening.

The debug window said the following when I was hitting “view” and nothing was opening or downloading. “Got reply from agent with status FAILED and result text Security Error: Requests from <<Server name>> are not trusted. Please install the IFS Aurena Agent again for this host.” When reinstalling the aurena agent chrome extension, I get the same error that our user was getting. I disabled the chrome extension and it opens fine.

What do you suppose we do? Does this tell us that it’s a document issue or it’s an Aurena issue?

You need to install or modify the Aurena Agent )the MSI) again on your machine, entering the URL for the IFS installation in the installer. Installing the Chrome extension is not enough. It's part of the Aurena Agent solution but only one part of it.

@Mathias Dahl I reinstalled the MSI agent but it still only opens with the Aurena Chrome extension disabled.

Any errors? You have mentioned two different ones earlier I think? Also, does the agent work with other documents?

You should also verify that the agent is working for you by opening the User Settings page and see if it's enabled there.

Hey @Mathias Dahl, it’s the same error that we were receiving. I updated the MSI file and like I said, when I disable the Aurena exension, the document opens but when I enable it, we get this error. This is the only document (so far that we’ve discovered) that is doing this in Aurena. I also just for giggles, disabled the IEE extension for one of these trials to see if they were interfering with each other but they weren’t. Both extensions are enabled in chrome.

Interesting! It almost looks like the server has a problem with this exact file…

One simple way to verify that is this:

1. Save a copy of the file, by disabling the IFS Aurena Chrome extension.

2. Delete the file from the document revision.

3. Check in a new simple file like a small text file with just a few words in it.

4. Enable the extension again and try again. Does it work? If not, the file is not the problem.

There you can see what information is sent to the Aurena Agent, and how it responds.

I think you should file a support case about this so that someone from our support team can take a look in your environment together with you. There could be a bug here, but I doubt it, it’s most probably data related, but we don’t see it.
