we would like customer order line with package part, not be involved in the planning, so we need to uncheck “Release for Mtrl Planning” this box on customer order line, but system prompt the error. it said cannot be updated for package parts.
how to make this happen?

That check box cannot be cleared for package parts, since the package part components are the actual parts which make demands for the planning. So, if the check box could be cleared for the package part in the CO line, it cannot determine whether the planning would consider all the components in the package structure of only few of them. So, you may need to go to the package component lines in the certain CO line, and clear that check box in each package component line.
