Hello Everyone, seeking your thoughts in here.

I am trying to deliver a Non inventory sales part using a customer order. I assumed if we release the order then I can directly deliver the parts as the part is non inventory. This works if the wanted delivery date is the current date.

But If I create the customer order with the wanted delivery date as a future date. After releasing, I cannot perform the delivery until I perform the Reserve customer order even though its non inventory sales part. If not “Non inv Sales part Qty to deliver” field is not updated with the order line Qty.

If the Wanted delivery date is current date

If wanted delivery date is future date

In quick order flow handling shows the next step as reserve. If I perform the reservation generally. It updates the Non inv qty to deliver field and then I can deliver the order.

Same behaviour can be seen in App10.

Is there any explanation for this behaviour? Or am I missing any setting?

Appreciate your thoughts on this.

Thanks,

Chamath

Hi Chamath,

This is the intended design.

When the wanted delivery date is in the future, a manual step must be taken to let the system know that the Non-inventory sales part is ready to be delivered by making a virtual reservation. You can do this through Quick Order Flow handling or using Reserve Customer Order Lines window.

Another option is to use an order type that stops after the RESERVE ORDER event. This way, after you release the order, regardless of the wanted delivery date, the non-inventory sales part line will be ready to be delivered with no further action from the user.

Quoting the F1 Documentation: https://docs.ifs.com/ifsclouddocs/24r1/default.htm?openpage=https://docs.ifs.com/ifsclouddocs/24r1/Shipment/ActivityOrdDelivCO.htm

“Non-inventory parts with a delivery date ahead of today's date need to be reserved using the reservation batch in the Create Customer Order Reservations window, before they can be delivered. However, non-inventory parts with a delivery date of today or before can be delivered directly after the release is done.”

Hi @Upasari

Thank you for the explanation. Much appreciated.

Hi @Upasari Adding a note, When there is a lead time connected to the customer delivery address, lets say Transport lead time, system automatically picking the wanted delivery date as a future date. But that customer order doesn't have to reserve, it can be directly delivered after releasing.

That's why I wondered if lead times allows to pick a future date and deliver why not when changing the date to a future date.

Thanks,

Chamath
