HI All,

In the latest cloud release IFS released us to use “Packaging Material Parts to Handling Unit Accessories”. I have configured the settings and I am seeing an odd behaviour. I am not sure this is due to set up mine.

Any help would be highly appreciated. Below is my set up. I am maintaining my packing material in IFS as an inventory part.

Inventory Part - P-100-1

Packing Form (Packing material) - 1-00212

I am using below packing Instruction and I have defined Handling Unit Accessory and connected my packing material to that.

Below is my packing Ins. I am using 2m of FORM for each small box HU when packing.

I have 100 pcs of stock from P-100-1 and in the master part i have defined my handling unit capacity as below.

Then From the Inventory part in stock window. I am selecting > Handling unit > Pack according to packing instruction.

Once the stock is packed on the packing ins. I can see my parent HU and other connections. Everything seems to be OK

But if I check the inventory balance of the packing form part 1-00212 it should reduced by 10m ( As 1 HU consume 2m and i have created 5 here)

But surprisingly its consumed 50m of packing material. This can be seen in inventory transactions history as well.

Does anyone know why this is happening?  Am I following a wrong path here.

Thanks,

Chamath

Hi @Chamath Kuruppuarachchi I cant see anything obvious with the setup, this being based on what I have tested before. I have did the same setup as yourself.

Qty of 100 in stock. Qty of 10 max per handling units. Created 10 handling units expecting a Qty of 20 of my material to be backflushed. Actual result was 60 backflushed!!

@COVJAMIEB Thank you for testing this. Just trying to understand what went wrong. Wondering why it backflush more than consumed. HU structure shows the correct consumed material though.

Thanks,
Chamath

Its a strange one! I have changed the packing instruction to only create 1 handling unit and consume a qty of 1 of my accessory. When I pack creates 2 inventory transaction lines, 1 for 1kg and 1 for 2kg!!

So. I have set up new data and tested again, same results!

Simple 1 Pallet requiring 1 piece of cardboard

HU capacity of 10pcs

I haven't booked in any stock of cardboard as of yet.

I pack per packing instruction and it is trying to backflush 2, instead of 1.

@COVJAMIEB Yeah gave the same error for me. Lets give couple of days to see if some one has a different view for this if not lets report to IFS and see.

Thanks,

Chamath

@COVJAMIEB Tested a new flow. Connect another packing material to the Handling unit type and run the flow. It will run as expected.

Packing material is connected to Handling unit accessories as previous but once I run this it will deduct the correct packing material from the Handling unit types and from the accessories.

Scenario that I initially raised seems to be a bug in the application.

Thanks,
Chamath

@Chamath Kuruppuarachchi , @COVJAMIEB It seems logical that the backflush of the accessory would be dependent on the availability to backflush its HU package material part, i.e. for each box that backflushes, backflush 2 meters of form. So if a package material part is required on the HU, the documentation should reflect this prerequisite.

And if this prerequisite is true, no transaction should occur for the accessory if there is no package material part on the HU.

Hi @matt.watters this is what the understanding is.

The issue we are seeing is that in a scenario it seems to be backflushing more of the accessory than required

Hi @Chamath Kuruppuarachchi

Please let me know which cloud version you used for testing. I just tested in latest track 24R1. Expectation is one aggregated invent transaction for the accessory material used.

Piyal

Hello @Piyal Perera yes this is 24R1.

One aggregated line is there but apart from that few other transactions automatically created and consumed lot of packing material.

Note - I only connected packing material only to the handling unit accessory FOAM.

I am not using any handling unit type connected packing material in this scenario

Thanks,

Chamath
