Hi all,

 

We’re investigating the potential use of substitute parts for some of our sales parts.

Essentially we have a Telesales function whereby we take orders via quick customer order registration.

Orders are raised in a planned status and are released via background task.

 

I’m looking to try to understand if substitute parts can work at the order input stage when there is no sales part availability.

 

All documentation I have found seems to point towards substitute parts are used at quotation stage only. I’m hoping that this is not a limitation of this functionality.

We’ve used Alternate/Complementary parts on Customer Orders in Apps9 (appreciate that may be different with Cloud/Quick CO Registration.

 

Feels like a Custom Event where QoH = 0 to accept the alternate would be a good action.

I can comment as follows;

Substitute parts (also referred to as alternate parts) are parts that have similar characteristics as the sales part; they could be sold instead of the sales part requested by the customer if the requested part is not available. At order line entry, the substitute parts for a particular sales part would then be presented in a dialog box. Note: Only existing sales parts can be entered.

Prerequisites
The part that you want to enter as a substitute part must have been established as a sales part.

System Effects
A substitute part is connected to the sales part.

This functionality is available on the customer order page as well. Even it was mentioned only about sales quotation in the help text.

in our world with a Telesales team entering orders with a customer on the phone, I would have thought there would be a function to communicate sales part status within Quick CO reg. 

This feels like a little bit of a capability gap.

I believe we can achieve the desired results using timed replacement parts so again, thanks for the pointers.
