Hi all,

I ran MRP and for part Q-ALML-MDL the system created a Shop Order demand / MRP Make (Planning).
How can I convert this demand into an actual Shop Order?

Path I’m using:
Supply Chain Planning → Material Requirements Planning → MRP Action Proposals Workbench
I can see the relevant proposal, but I don’t know how to turn it into an SO. The RMB → “Action for Order…” option is visible but disabled.

  • What’s the correct place/step to create the Shop Order from this proposal?

  • Which prerequisites enable “Action for Order” (e.g., Supply Code=Make, routing, firming rules, permissions, time fences)?

Environment: IFS Apps 8

Thanks!

Hi,

You should use the ‘Follow Up’ option instead (this is from the IFS Documentation):

“When you right-click on an MRP message and select ‘Follow Up’, the system opens a context-specific form that lets you:

  • Review the source of the message (e.g., shop order, purchase requisition, production schedule).
  • Take corrective action such as releasing, rescheduling, or cancelling the order.
  • Access related windows like Shop Order Requisition, Purchase Requisition Lines, or Supplier Schedule Lines depending on the part type and supply type.

The ‘Action for Order’ dialog provides a contextual interface for managing MRP proposals. It allows users to:

  • View details of the MRP message and the associated order (purchase or shop order).
  • Make changes to quantities and dates directly within the dialog.
  • Navigate to the actual order record for deeper review or edits.
  • Add action notes, such as reasons for delays or supplier constraints, which remain visible until the order is closed or cancelled.”

@Richard Owen .  Thanks for the guidance! Using Follow Up makes sense. In our Apps 8 setup, we’ll proceed by creating Shop Orders directly from Customer Orders rather than trying to convert the MRP Make proposal. Your explanation clarified the workflow—much appreciated!
