Delivering Shipment with Handling Units and Non-Handling Unit parts

Forum|alt.badge.img+7

Hi, we’re looking to begin using handling unit functionality in our inter-site order flow.

Ultimately, we want to create a HU and attach only certain shipment lines to it - there are some shipment lines we don’t need to attach to a HU. We are then completing, delivering and closing the shipment in the normal way.

However, when we use the Delivery Note No. to receive the incoming dispatch advice at the receiving site, only the parts in a handling unit are available to receive. The lines without a HU don’t even appear.

The Inventory Transaction History shows that the missing lines are going into Internal Order Transit, meaning we have to go to the Register Arrivals screen to receive the PO lines.

Can anyone tell us why this is happening?

Hi,

The scenario you describe cannot be executed in core, you cannot run the complete step in the shipment if the shipment lines are partial attached to shipment handling units. You should get all the content in the DESADV message and see it in the Incoming Dispatch Advice, but perhaps it cannot handle the customized scenario?

@washton can you check in the Customer Order Lines for the HU enabled part and non-HU what Supply Code do they have?

Do they have the same Supply Code? i.e. Int Purch Trans? or Internal Purch Dir?

Hi Marcel, all of the Customer Order Lines have a supply code of Int Purch Trans. When we don’t use Handling Units, all delivered lines are shown in Incoming Dispatch Advice as expected.

Hi,

I don’t get how you have managed to deliver a shipment where some shipment lines are packed and some not. In the core there is a very old validation so that all lines with all quantity is packed or no line is packed. Have you done some customization here and removed this validation? Then the core dispatch advice cannot handle this new situation?

Best Regards

Fredrik

Hi Fredrik,

W have had a customisation related to the Handling Unit WaDaCo configuration, but I don’t think there was any change to the core functionality with shipment handling units.

William

Thank you for the information Fredrik - we have raised a case with IFS Cloud for them to confirm and investigate our customisation.
