Hello we are on Cloud 23R1 and just like in Apps10 Customer Order Type is not editable once the record is saved. This is probably our #1 frustration from our sales team. When it is imperative that an order type needs to be changed, we have our database admin run an sql update statement to change it in the database table. This seems to work, however are there any consequences from this process? And is there any other way to accomplish this?

It’s been that way since at least Apps 2004, roughly app6.

Updating things in the database tables directly is not a good idea, even thought it may seem to work it may, and probably will, come back to haunt you. Ran into that with a company I worked for on a contract. It would by Time & Materials to get IFS to you resolve any issues.

Two issues that come to mind. If you use shipment inventory on some order types and not others it may cause inventory issues. Kind of the same, in posting controls, the C16 control type uses customer order type to post to the GL.

Hi @mdezzi,

If possible try using a custom field to indicate the new requirement change.Unfortunately, it won’t affect order type execution process.

Piyal
