Hi there,

Is there anyone that has a detailed explanation of the dependency types that can be selected on work list items in the work task template?

  • Finish to Start
  • Start to Start
  • Combined
  • Order One Way
  • Order Two Way

I searched in the documentation but i cannot seem to find what these different dependency types actually do and how they differ from eachother.

Thank in advance!

It's explained in the PSO documentation that can be found here:

Check the document Scheduling Concepts - Linking Activities.

HI @Alexander Heinze,

Thanks for this. It is a bit confusing that in the documentation the dependency types (finish to start & start to start) are referred to as “pre-requisites” and “co-requisites”, but once I figured that out, I was able to understand the dependency types.

From this documentation, I understand how the PSO handles the dependencies between linked activities and what kind of parameters can be used to influence that decision making.

Can I also find somewhere how the settings of these dependency types on the work task impact the starting or completion of linked work tasks in IFS Cloud itself?

For example, we have a scenario where a business unit works with work tasks (and a work task template) but doesn't use PSO and plans the work tasks manually.

Dispatch Console also checks dependencies, MWO enforces them (unless you set “Ignore Dependency in Execution”). Is that what you wanted to know?
