Question

File Storage support for build place environments

Forum|alt.badge.img+2

Hi,

Just want to know whether FileStorage repositories are available with build place environments?.. When trying to test a repository it gives an error. Also, FS Migration tool fails as well.

Best Regards,

I think IFS Cloud File Storage should be enabled for build place as well, but I'm not 100% sure. I suggest you file a case and get it looked into by IFS Cloud Operations/Services.

Hi @Mathias Dahl ,

Thanks for the reply!..i will check on that.

Regarding running FS migration in an IFS managed buildplace environment, do you have any workaround to suggest when we cannot get the access to the db from local machine?… in a case the documents already in the database repo and to move into File Storage in a ifs cloud production environment?

Thanks,

Best Regards,

Methshika

The machine and user used to run the FS mig tool must have access to both the source database and target IFS Cloud environment.

What's the total size of all the documents, by the way? If it's not too big, you can first upgrade and then move the document files using the built-in transfer assistant.

Hi @Mathias Dahl ,

yes, I tried with the “Transfer Documents” assistant. Here this regarding moving files into File Storage which are already in the cloud env data in database repository(in edm_file_storage_tab).

So, firstly, I created a new db repository with is in Usable status and changed the location_name in the edm_file_tab for the doc revisions need to be moved into this new repo. This I tried with a simple. migration job using method Edm_File_API.Modify_Location_Name().

Then I used the assistant and run the transferring between the new db repo in  usable state into the file storage.

But after the transferring, when I tried to view the pdf files in the document revision, it download the file with zero size and giving an error when trying to open it.

Would you able to give an idea where this could have gone wrong?

Thanks,

Best Regards,

Methshika

I'm confused, why did you call that method? Aren't the files already in the Database repository?

Hi @Mathias Dahl ,

It is just to take the files into a “USABLE” state repository temporally. As I understood moving from db repo should be on “USABLE” state ?

However, now seems I found some issue with this transfer application messages getting created. It is missing the file no in the json content:

{"DocumentParameters":{"DocClass":"INVOICE","DocNo":"1000169","DocSheet":"1","DocRev":"A1","DocType":"ORIGINAL","FileName":"INVOICE-1000169-1-A1-1.PDF","ToRepo":"CLOUD_FILE_STORAGE_INVOICE"}}

I suspect this would lead to upload empty file into FSS.

Just let me know your thoughts.

Thanks,

Best Regards,

Methshika

It's most probably not missing since the assistant works fine in normal cases. I can't say what's going wrong when you try, sorry.
