Hello,

I was expecting for one of my project the costs to be not capitalized, as much as the project capitalization is set to periodical and  the activity on the project is set to exclude from all ledgers.

But The system capitalized transactions for the activity which should be not capitalized.

Somone can help me on this?

Thanks

Best Regards

Hi

See the financial project and review the capitalization setting. The two options are transaction, and periodical.

Is your setting Transaction based?  If so that option based on the activity will not work. For that functionality you need to us the periodical capitalization.

Just in case… FYI, the capitalization process - will capitalize postings to expense type accounts and rev type accounts.

Help has more detail.

Best regards,

Thomas

Hi everyone,

I fully agree to the statements above. In my previous customer projects this functionality used to work with the mentioned combination:

  • Financial Project: Capitalization Posting Method: “Periodical”
  • Activity Setup Parameters: Periodical Capitalization: “Exclude from All Ledgers”

In my current customer project (environment: IFS Cloud 24.2.9) this no longer works, even though we meet the mentioned requirements.

I will open an IFS case to investigate this issue further.

Hi,

If the requirements are met, meaning you are using periodical cap, and at month end when you run the rev rec capitalization process and you see cost for an activity move from cost to balance sheet with the capitalization posting type, then log a call center case.  That is assuming the activity is set to exclude.

Hi Thomas,

Thank you for your fast feedback. I found the root cause. This setup does not influence already existing postings on an activity. Instead, changes on the “capitalization setting” of an activity only influence future postings, as described in IFS KB0081117. This is certainly unpleasant but explains the system behaviour in my current case.

Hi everyone,

I have created an IFS enhancement request related to the handling of the capitalization setting on activity level. Please consider liking and sharing it to help increase its visibility and the likelihood of it being considered for future releases.

Enhancement Request: Improve Periodical Capitalization Handling at Activity Level
