Hello,

We are trying to implement standard costing in IFS Cloud.

We have created different cost templates for our different product families, each with their own sets of Cost Buckets and Cost Elements. It is set up this way because the different products absorb different amounts of overhead.

The different overhead Cost Elements have been set up as percentages of 110 – Estimated Material Cost, in line with our costing model.

When viewing the product under Part Cost, the Cost Bucket Detail tab does not include the overhead cost buckets, so it does not calculate a high enough cost:

When changing the part’s Cost Template within the Part Cost screen, it also does not work. It only pulls through costs from the Estimated Material Cost bucket.

Is anyone able to assist please?

Thank you

John

Hello John,

First I think you need to clarify what kind overhead you mean here? You have used Material Overhead, but I think you would like define them as General Overhead

I think I stop here for now and wait for your response, but I want to say something about IFS and Material Overhead before I stop.

- Material Overhead cost  is the result of material handling of the component in the manufacturing process. Material Overhead should be defined at component level. But the cost shows up at level cost at parent level. Common user mistake!
Cheers,
Mats

Hi Mats,

Thank you for your response on this issue.

The problem has since been resolved. All of the purchased parts in the BOM have been changed to a new cost template, which is set up specifically for each product family.

I have also assigned the relevant parts into the correct part cost groups and this has resolved the problem.

Thank you for taking the time to get back to me.

John
