Handling Unit Gross Weight

Forum|alt.badge.img+10

Is there a place in the system where the total weight of a handling unit and it’s contents are displayed?  I put a bunch of material into a drum and the handling unit label sums it up, but I can’t find anywhere in the system where that weight is available.

For the product(s) in the drum, the Net Weight field and its unit of measure on the Part page (part catalog, part master, master part) should read 1 lb.

If it does not, set this value on all relevant parts. Then the net weight should then read 339.1 lbs. on the Handling Unit and Handling Units in Stock pages.

If it already reads 1 lb., then you might have a bug.

Does Handling Units in Stock get you what you need?

Matt, it does not.  The top half shows only the weight of the barrel.  The bottom half shows each individual lot of material and there are 60-65 separate lots in the drum.

Yes we can export to excel and add up or do a fancy search to sum it, but I was hoping that the system already did that somewhere.

@TosohLBlum did you have a look in the Handling Unit page? All the weight data should be there.

Perhaps it’s a bug in our version, but it only shows the tare weights.  It doesn’t add in the product.

@TosohLBlum all the weights are visible in the Handling Unit and Handling Units in Stock pages. Have you assigned a Net Weight on the component(s) at the Part page?

The units are stocked in lbs.  Does the weight need to be defined somewhere else, too?

The drum weighs 36 lb. and the handling unit label shows the gross weight of the drum and its contents as something greater than 36 lb., correct?

Yes.  The drum weighs 36 lbs.  The inventory in the drum totals 339.1 lbs.  So the gross weight should be 375.1lbs.
