Hello,

We are trying to establish a cycle counting procedure where the Inventory Part Cycle Count interval applies specifically to a Part Number, and not to the Part-Location combination.

Is there a way to adjust the cycle count/count report configuration to be able to count by part number, rather than by Part-Location combinations?

We do not place the same part number in the same location consistently.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Kyle

Hi @kmonto , Cycle counting can be enabled at inventory part level with an interval.

When creating count report, you can specify the part number without the location specifications.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Sayuri.

Thanks @Sayuri Perera

I was not specific enough. We are trying to cycle count a certain number of parts per day/week.

What you mentioned above will help with a specific part, but is there a systematic way to have all locations for a number of parts come through on the Count Report page per day/week.

My understanding is that records on the Count Report generated are tied back to the Part-Inventory Location combinations.

Hi @kmonto , I believe you can use ‘Commodity group 2’ to count all parts which has that commodity group 2 set for in inventory part ‘Classification’ section. And you can schedule this count report creation per day/week as per requirement from ‘Create Count Report’ window through schedule radio button.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Sayuri.

@Sayuri Perera Is there a way to control that report to only count specific number of parts per day (per report generation)?

Won’t it only generate records for parts that needed to be counted?

If we have Part: ABC with a Cycle Interval of 30 days (calendar days)

The part exists in 2 locations: Location X and Location Y

Part ABC in Location X was received and moved into X yesterday

Part ABC in Location Y was received and moved into Y 6 months ago.

Will the methodology you are talking about generate a count report with records for both ABC in X and ABC in Y? That is the functionality we are looking to achieve and specify that a set number of parts are generated per day.

Hi @kmonto , If the required parts have commodity group 2 defined and cycle counting enabled, the parts in location X and Y will be counted when count report is created. Given that if there are any previous count reports including the parts, those are counted and confirmed from ‘count per count report’ window.

The date in which the part was moved to location will not be considered here, all parts meeting the criteria of the report getting created will be counted.

Thanks,

Sayuri.

Thanks @Sayuri Perera

Is there a way to have a set number of parts counted per day?

Example: I want to count 20 parts per business day (regardless of the number of locations). I want to count 20 parts that exist throughout an entire site.
