Hi all,

We have a requirement to output xlsx files to pdf in doc man via macro when user views the doc.

The doc loaded will remain xlsx.

I’ve been told this isn't possible to do but was just wondering if anyone has done it?

We already have a macro for docx to pdf which works fine.

Many thanks

Dan

Hi Dan,

This is as feasible for Excel [xls(x)] as it is for Word [doc(x)]. I have no ready code for it but it is definitely doable.

As an alternative to executing the macro connected to the View process, you could consider generate the view copy (the pdf file) at Check In instead. Then the file is ready to show at View, and you’ll also get the possibility to View the original Word file if necessary. In this case it make sense to set the option to always view the View copy. This “User setting” can be set centrally by IT if necessary, and maybe have different settings for normal users and admins.
